A Fresh Interior Transformation in Worcester, MA

Our Worcester painting contractors recently completed a full interior update for a homeowner who wanted a brighter, cleaner look throughout their space. The project included spray-finishing ceilings, woodwork, and doors, installing new ceiling fans, and refinishing walls for a fresh, modern finish.

Preparation and Stain Conversion

The existing woodwork throughout the home was a dark stain, and the client wanted everything painted in crisp white Benjamin Moore paint—walls, ceilings, and trim.

When converting stained wood to paint, preparation is key. We sanded, vacuumed, and tack-clothed all woodwork to remove dust, then applied an oil-based stain-blocking primer to prevent tannin bleed and ensure proper adhesion.

Protecting Surfaces

Before priming, we made sure every surface not being painted was protected from sanding dust and overspray:

  • Covered floors with brown rosin paper
  • Removed and masked ceiling fixtures, tubs, vanities, and windows
  • Removed switch plates and labeled doors and hardware for easy reinstallation

In the guest bedroom, we also hung drywall on the ceiling before moving on to the rest of the preparation.

Dustless Sanding and Priming

With all protective measures in place, we sanded ceilings, walls, and woodwork using our dustless sanding system. All equipment was connected to HEPA vacuums, removing 98% of dust during the process. The remaining 2% was removed with deglosser for maximum paint adhesion.

Once surfaces were clean and ready, we applied a full coat of oil-based primer.

Detail Work and Painting

After priming, we:

  • Putty-filled imperfections
  • Sanded and vacuumed again
  • Caulked with Dynaflex for long-lasting flexibility and adhesion

With the prep complete, we sprayed ceilings for a smooth, even finish. Woodwork and doors received two coats of Benjamin Moore Regal Select Premium Semi-Gloss for durability and a polished look.

Walls were patched, sanded, cleaned, and painted with Benjamin Moore Regal Select Eggshell, requiring two coats for full coverage.

Finishing Touches

Once painting was complete:

  • We reinstalled all doors and hardware
  • Installed four remote-controlled ceiling fans to replace the existing fixtures
  • Removed all protective coverings and masking
  • Cleaned and disposed of all debris

The end result? A bright, modern interior with a flawless finish and upgraded lighting—completely transforming the home’s atmosphere.
